What is Candid?

Candid emerged from the 2019 merger of two leading data organizations in the non-profit sector: Foundation Center and GuideStar. It aims to provide comprehensive information on non-profits, foundations, and grants. Candid's services include offering data, tools, and insights to non-profit organizations, foundations, and donors to help them make informed decisions and amplify their impact. The organization's mission revolves around promoting transparency, enabling users to easily access information about non-profit performance, financials, and the impact of their work.

What is Guidestar?

Prior to its merger into Candid, GuideStar was an independent entity known for being a significant source of information about U.S. non-profits. It compiled and provided access to data on millions of organizations. Users could search for information on a non-profit's mission, legitimacy, reputation, finances, programs, transparency, governance, and more. GuideStar played a crucial role in promoting non-profit transparency and accountability, and it served as a valuable resource for donors, researchers, and the general public to assess the credibility and effectiveness of non-profits.

Together, as Candid, they provide a powerful and comprehensive resource for those interested in the non-profit sector, offering a wide range of information and tools to assess the work, impact, and transparency of charitable organizations.
